braces update

When I told my dentist that I’m getting married this summer break, he paused for a few minutes, pouting his lips, his hand on chin while staring deeply into his clinic wall, he continued “I don’t think we can get your teeth done before that”.

I know it! “Told ya already but you still procrastinating!” – I said in my heart.

Okay, keep calm Qissy. You are just a patient, not a dentist! Hahaha.

Anyway, it wasn’t a surprise. I’ve expected it to be like this and I’m ready to just carry these metals along with me on the pelamin.

All that he did was fixing my braces tightly, because I will be away from him for 2 months. And of course, the colour of my rubber!

That was tough. But thank god Dr Ahmed wasn’t like any other typical man who would just simply give up with the women being all fussy about the colours.

When he put the wire over my teeth, I noticed he tried to take a pink rubber to seal the wire. I was freak out! Cause it wasn’t a normal pink guys, it was a bright pink. Very bright. I hate to admit, my teeth are slightly yellowish now since I’m wearing braces for almost a year already. So, naah. Bright pink rubber and off white teeth = contraindicated!

When he tried to put the pink rubber, I was kinda afraid to say no. I wasn’t that friendly with Dr Ahmed. He’s my new orthodontist by the way. My former one was Dr Mahmoud – wonder where he went. But this is my future, I said in my heart. This pink colour will stay forever in my wedding pictures.

I tried to be brave, with my mouth wide open since I still had a long wire lining on my upper teeth waiting to be sealed with that rubbers, I raised my hand and waved it, “La’a”. It means no in Arabic.

He looked confused. I added, “I don’t want pink. Can I have a dark colour?”

Now he understand. He replied, “Uh oh. You want this?”, showing me bright blue.

“No”, I replied. Oh my god, I didn’t want to be so fussy. But I said, “Maybe maroon?”

“Hahahaha”, he laughed. Oh god, thank god he laughed. It meant we weren’t really in a tense. He’s friendly anyway, he’s not like what I thought about him. Now I liked him, my new orthodontist. How could I ever think of him as a no-fun dentist? Bad me! And now I could be fussy, perhaps? Hahaha.

Then he said, “Alright. I will put all different colours on you and then you can choose”.

See? Isn’t his wife so lucky? Must be so cool having him as a shopping companion. Oh by the way, my old dentist also was so cool too. Dr Mahmoud gave me a box of full of different colour of rubbers for me to choose while he fixed my teeth. Yes on that bloody chair. So u can imagine me lying down on the dental chair, opening my mouth while holding the box up in the air thinking what colour to choose. Lol. Totally understand how to deal with female patients.

So anyway, Dr Ahmed put a black rubber, next to that bright pink and then an orange rubber.  He added, "You don't like pink? I think this pink's nice". Nayy, bad taste you Doctor. Just stay cool there and don't try to choose that pink again - you're gonna lose your coolness. Then he asked his assistant to bring me a mirror for me to see my teeth on that.

Hmmm. So hard, I know. This couldn’t be done in minutes. The image of my wedding dress appeared. Then the pelamin. Oh god. Give me the whole day please? Hahaha #overacting

Alright. “I want this”, showing the emerald green rubbers in the box.

“Hahahaha. This?”. God! He laughed again. Now we’re friends! Hahaha. “Okay”.

So yes, emerald green for my 2-months braces rubber. I like it, it isn’t that obvious but it won’t get stained easily. Plus I couldn’t find any dental clinic here that can fix my braces. So, let’s just play it safe.

Teeth update: My teeth moved. Slightly. Only.

Sigh.

girl in the green scarfs

Definitely not Becky Bloomwood!

This is my own version of green scarfs, muslimah version because I'd prefer to address them as hijabs - which cover my head.

Well, I think people who are following my Instagram know about my little business on shawls last summer break. I was selling satin shawls from Egypt.

Ameerul definitely knows about this.

And my favourite of all is this emerald green colour which actually had caught many attentions from my friends. Also among those who had higher orders too at the particular time!

What happened was, upon my departure back to Egypt, Ameerul handed me this shopping paper bag with something in it. I was curious, of course. I looked into the bag to find a piece of green shawl covered in a plastic.

Emerald green! Wow, my favourite!

But err, it was satin.

Hahaha.

I had so many questions in my head at that time.

"Did he know that I've already owned one shawl in emerald green?"

"Did he know it is also a satin material like this?"

"Has he ever seen me in emerald green satin shawl before?"

"Okay, when did he buy this? He didn't tell me where he went!"

"Oh, wait, having two satin shawls in emerald green isn't a bad idea after all"

Okay, girls are complicated hahaha. Even though you knew you only had only a few hours left to spend your precious time together before you took off.

Of course, I said thank you and I was grateful. He said this one is different because this shawl has a curved end. (He meant a half moon shawl - mind his lack vocabulary in hijab-ness dictionary hahaha).

 My satin shawl

 His satin shawl

Can't really tell any difference right?

That's how it goes whenever each of us give each other a present. Our taste is so different in everything. Last year, he gave me a body lotion with sakura flower scent. I liked it, but if he could had give me softer scent then it would be really reallyyyyyy nicer hahaha. When he gave me a sling bag, but I'd never wore it hahaha sorry but he insisted it was a beautiful bag - which I stared at the bag for so long to find the beautiful side of the bag hmmm still couldn't find the beauty of that.

When I gifted him a Tshirt, he said he liked it and so gonna wear it. Yes, he wore it at night! During bedtime! God, that was expensive omg how dare you! I gave him a watch, he said, "This is so my grandpa's taste".

I didn't know that your grandpa has such swag taste, huh?

new member

I will be back in Malaysia in less than 3 months. Excited, no? And I'm pretty sure this summer break will be the exciting one. Because we are going to get a new family member!

My big brother is going to get married! First wedding in our family and of course they can't proceed to anything unless the loveliest of all is back from Egypt. Hahaha but I missed their engagement. Plus the time zone spoiled a lot. I only wake up when they'd done with the ceremony and I was celebrating alone on my bed seeing the pictures on Facebook and Whatsapp.

So, as for the wedding, they are patiently waiting for me to come back. I'm so special like that hahaha.

I personally haven't meet my future sister-in-law. Never once. Unlike the other family members. So they are talking about how good she is. How adorable she is. How lovely she is. How diligent she was in the kitchen helping my mom. So my mom likes her a lot.

I'm really looking forward to this. I'm excited okay. So my biggest contribution so far is... choosing my own outfit to the event.

And for the outfit, I know this uncle here that sews very very well. Hahaha he is one amazing tailor. I will just show him few pictures of the dress that I want him to follow, he nods and tell me to come a few days after to collect the dress. I find it amusing! Like he's a mind reader perhaps? Hahaha.

Emerald green

Lovely! I'm so in love with emerald green lately. The colour of elegance and brave, yet it still look soft and wild at the same time.

I don't really own that much of emerald green collection in my wardrobe. I don't know what happened, I've got attached to this colour so much these days. And I suddenly have an urge to start collecting emerald green clothes. Zzz so much influences!

But it's so beautiful, masyaallah. I mean, emerald green with lace is just enough to show how classy it is. It's never too striking for a formal event. Also, it's a symbol of confidence and brave. Whoever who wears emerald green pumps is just sexy! Haha.

Green is generally a symbol for a fresh things. And emerald green is included.

I just love it.

Syawal 2013 story

I'd done with my Ramadhan pretty well. My most productive Ramadhan so far. Productive in terms of never failed to wake up for sahur (that happened when I was fasting in mom's place), breaking fast on time (absolutely), terawikh and done with half part of Quran (yeaaa should be more). Alhamdulillah, still. At least, Allah has given me a strength and I'd managed to make most of it, especially with my family.

Coming to Syawal, exciting part yeahhh. Especially on raya outfit one. Sigh. My bad. I actually have this habit of scrolling on fashion sites (Hatta Dolmat, Jovian Mandagie, FashionValet, etc etc) but never gonna buy anything from them, cause apparently the petite me finds it so hard to get the outfits that will suits me well. So I love taking some inspirational from them, and adding some extra imaginational design on that.

That turned out to be like this...

Leopard print bottom and a plain mini kurung with gold roses lace. And it took me 2 days long to just sew the lace on. Slowpoke me. Well, you can add beads on the sewn lace if you like, I thought of doing so with few red/gold/yellow beads, but pleaseeee, 2 days was enough. My life wasn't only revolve around that bloody piece of kurung haha.

Wait, sweetest picture ever.

Ameerul and his mom.

I love the idea of having the lace of the scarf also. Like the one that Ameerul's mom has. Attractive and classy.

New baby

I heard people say, wearing contact lenses will reduce your eye power. So I've been using contact lenses since I was 16. And my power increases to +3.75 for each instead. Now I don't know which one is true.

Since the powers have increased, so my old spectacle can't anymore detect anything in the distance more than 100 meter, so I've made myself a new one. I wasn't plan anything, it was too fast, I tried the spec for fun and I said, "I want this". I wasn't sure if I said it with my conscious. Maybe, half.

Leaving the shop, Kiena said, "Qis, Masyaallah, pantang masuk kedai semua nak beli".

So that's why I come out with a reason that my power has increased. *wink.

Hahaha.

I know this one is too large for me but it is intended to be so. One  lecturer asked me, "Is that really your glass?". So I said, yes. And she laugh. Haha.

I'm actually wearing contact lenses to school since I was 16 and until now. It's like I cannot go anywhere without contact lenses. That are my eyes cause I'm not really comfortable wearing spectacles outside. Plus, it makes my face looks so small. People will look at me like I am that kind of 8 years old genius kid with a pink-frame spectacles, with high power some more. Hahaha.

And I am much more comfortable wearing glasses just at home.

The old one.

So now I have two specs. I have triple eyes now.

Bawal revolution

I didn't really wear bawal headscarf since my diploma life. So when I went to KPJ Tawakkal for an interview, one of HR people told me, "We wear tudung bawal here. No Tudung Ekin or shawl like you wear"

"Haa? No shawl?"

"Yes, no shawl".

That's when I started to wear bawal headscarf again. But, only during my work shifts!

And now, everyone is in bawal headscarf back. I don't know what happened. Most of my friends wear plain colour of bawal headscarf. Everyone is so crazy with AidiJuma. Rita Rudaini went to the court wearing an adorable bawal headscarf. Datin Juma looks so stunning in simple plain bawal headscarf.

Why guys?

So I tried wearing bawal headscarf again. Tell you what, I'm addicted to AidiJuma now.

I have more shawls compared to bawal headscarf. And I actually wear turban too. So I think it's really good to have more collection of shawls cause they function more than just a simple headscarf. They can be your body hugging blanket in cold environment or maybe just a simple head cover.

But I just can't resist the gorgeous temptation of AidiJuma's collection, so I think I must get myself some.

My name is Qistina and I'm a fashion crime. Hahaha.

Dolls again

Okay, this guy may looks like Justin Bieber, no? When I showed this photo to my friend, obviously who fancies JB so much, they said, "Oh God, you're lucky". "I'm jealous". -__-

Hahaha. I don't what what has been on his mind.

Well, it was a day with Dolls. I was happy, Bunny was there too. I hadn't met her for so long, so long that I couldn't even remember. Thank God, we have those techs now. Haha.

From left: Me, Fatin, Bunny and Ibtisam.

This was actually in Syabaan. We went out after coming back from our offices. One of us said, let's breaking fast together (puasa ganti), so everybody agreed. I went there and found out that nobody's fast. This is one thing about Dolls. They say something, but they never do it, but they laugh over it, they call each other crazy, they promise not to do it again, but they do it again, and they laugh over it again. These girls never be serious. Haha.

This is my dearest so called cousin, Sarah but I call her Baby. Everyone calls her Baby too, including Ameerul. Ameerul teased me by calling her baby with a lot smoother voice. Nah, you're wasting your time boy. Hahaha.

Sara! Accidentally met her. I was like, Sara I missed you a lot. Sara replied, "Oh God, I was about to say from far, that girl is really small and petite and never thought it was you".

Egypt mood turns on! I am half complete with the preparation to go to Egypt. I mean, I listed few things that I need to buy and things that I need to bring. The most important thing is coat. Because when I reach there soon, it's almost near to the winter time. I told ya, winter time there can reach to 0 degree Celsius. Cold. I will hide under the mat then!

I love this coat above but I think this one is too thin. This is headache. And those things more, luggage, face moisturiser, sun block and what shoes that I really need to bring and all. Sigh.

Peacock

It can't fly. Or even walk. But I make it walks. Haha. I love the idea of how it combines to such attractive colours and the feather's shiny.

It's just hanging from my neck.

Beads

Welcome 2 days off. Wohoo. And my salary is about to out tomorrow. We'll see how I manage with this this time. Hee. I've made a list about what to do, what to buy, so, I'm sort of attached to it.

But, I don't trust my own budget. So, why bother much about following the list. It's much less giving you  pressure on what to buy and what's not. Kind of having a strict discipline in buying things. Pleaseee. Life is more than about facing a pressure, so avoid them, that's the best. My point is, buy everything that you want. I'll guarantee you happiness. LOL. Kill me! :p

Manhattan Onceover.

I looked at myself in the mirror and I murmured,

"Dress-Dorothy Perkins

Cardigan-Cotton On

Handbag-Fake LV from Indonesia

Shoes-Vincci

Shawl-From Mekkah

Shade-Vincci accessories."

Ameerul was actually standing behind me and he said, "What are you talking about?" He was laughing so hard.

I turned to him, held his arms, looked into his eyes and said, "My boyfriend-priceless"

And we smiled at each other.

Hahaha.

Eid 2011

My lilttle sister and I in one of candid pictures.

Alhamdulillah, 30 days of Ramadhan flew leaving me as a strong servant to Allah. And today's first Syawal, the day that we celebrate the victory of us Moslems as we managed to survive a month of Ramadhan, the month that encourages us to against and control our lust. Alhamdulillah. Mine was being all well.

Praise to Allah.

Selamat Hari Raya Aildilfitri. Maaf zahir & batin guys. Have a blast one.

Went all green. This wasn't my plan at all. But what do you expect with so much little time? Wear all that you have! Haha.

This is Nik Damia. My cousin's baby girl. She's the princess of the day and her eyes were really big. I was feeding her with some biscuit while whispered something to that food praying that my daughter will pop out to be this cute. Hehe. *touching the womb.

Fashion disaster

Really afraid of the post's title. LOL.

I've received lots of comments and harsh opinions from my friends regarding the way I dressed myself on our last reunion. They even teased me by saying my outfits looked like pyjamas and they even asked me, "Are you going to sleep at the waterfall?"

CRUEL! Boys are always like that, heartlessly giving me that harsh comments.

Because they saw me in a jumpsuit. God, I love this jumpsuit. Its colour was just perfect. And I felt so comfortable traveling in a bus for 6 hours of journey in this jumpsuit.

But Shuk was laughing at me, like he was all possessed by bad spirit or something. Hehe.

BBQ time. Went all pink, including the ring. -__-

This was a palazzo pant. Everybody was thinking that it was actually a skirt. Nooo, because I'm all short and it looked weird on me. *weep*

And that was a bowling shoe, hehe.

Completing my eyes

Being short-sighted is terrible, I swear. You can't even swimming, you'll get annoyed when finding your misplaced specs and you'll find all your effort in putting eye shadow is just a waste; you'll wear a specs though!

I look bad in specs. Don't you think so? And the eaten fish doesn't look good too.

That is why I've picked contact lens as my best friend for years. I have been using contact lens since I was 16. Been studying in all girls school taught me to be more girlish and believe me, I've started to use all the make up stuffs since I was 14! Face foundation, compact powder, complete facial set, perfumes and I had various colours of lipstick, lip gloss and lip balm during my school days. Oh, girls these days.

Luckily, specs power is same! 300 for both eyes and its getting higher and higher. Sigh..

I told my dad, I couldn't wear the specs because I was so careless and the specs needed to be repaired for so many times. Plus, I can't focus in the class with the specs covering my eyes and I'll get sleepy with specs. Teheee.

and please recognise the owner of these fake eyes?

I've tried various colours of contact lens. From hazel to grey, purple, green, turqoise and can you believe I once wore blue contact lens? Now I'm wearing colourless one because I'm worry if patients will get heart attack seeing my eyes in red colour! Haha.

Thank God, I've never been attacked by their infection so far. But yes, I'd get my migraine from it. I was once woke up at 4 am, feeling like a big burden over my eyes. I was attacked by heavy migraine, vomitted and I felt so bad! I can't even sleep. Can you see how beauty kills you?

Beauty is pain though.
